NOT FINISHED YET

not finished yet

This blog, I mean.  Today is my blog birthday.

Two years, 80 followers, 25,000 visits and 269 posts.

The idea of going to stay in our little house in Le Grand-Pressigny, still fills me with excitement.  If we haven’t been there for a while I get homesick for it.  When a holiday is over and we have to come home to the UK I don’t want to leave and as soon as we’re home I can’t wait to go back again.  I love it that much and still pinch myself to make sure it’s not a dream when I turn the key in the lock when we arrive.  The idea of going anywhere else just hasn’t crossed my mind since we discovered it nearly four years ago.

I never thought it would get under my skin and into my heart like it has.

So, whilst a few of the blogs I follow have dwindled to an occasional catch-up and other bloggers have packed up, left France and gone back to the UK, I’m not done yet.  I am still exploring this lovely corner of France and finding lots of things to blog about.

I shall be here for a while longer and I will be absolutely thrilled if you stay with me.

  2. Congratulations. It is an interesting world this blogging thing. I am only 'one year old' and I cannot believe all the people I have 'met'. My enforced break now will probably do me good as I feel I need to refresh my ideas and blogs if possible. A bientôt Diane

  6. As a very recent blogger and follower, all I can say is keep it up, Jean! We've had our little house in Normandy for 8 years now and I still love going there as much as ever, probably more, in fact, as I get to know the area and the people better.

  7. Wishing you many happy blogging hours ahead, and look forward to following your continuing journey in your patch of France. I have spasms of blogging, then feel the need to go quiet, then the urge comes upon me to write again. I think most of us regular bloggers get like that. I think I am just about three years into blogging and am surprised at how much I have enjoyed meeting people. Bon anniversaire!

  13. Happy second anniversary Jean - yes, I am one of those that have left France but hope to visit the house I left behind a few times a year.

The comment you left for me recently made me full of hope. Currently this is a very melancholy time for me and your words really made a difference. Thank you

  15. Hi

I'm another person who happily and silently follows your blog. I had to comment today, because your description of your feelings about your little house exactly mirrors ours when we first bought our French house in 1997. Be careful! After only two years of spending all our holidays here, we couldn't stand leaving any more, so we sold our house in the UK and moved here :) We have never regretted it, even though our house is small and we are not as well-off as we were in the UK.

  20. Congratulations Jean, long may your blogging continue. We've been here permanently for just over six months now and I still pinch myself... and I know exactly what you mean about leaving... the journey back to the UK always seemed longer than the journey down... it might have been because we were going back "uphill", but somehow I doubt it!
Come and have a toast to the furture in Epine Noire or Sloe Rum!
