LIFE ON MARS

Life on Mars played live by Rick Wakeman on Radio Two.

I confess that David Bowie was not one of my heroes but this is rather wonderful.  Maybe it’s because I miss living a house where my father would, at any moment, go to the piano and play something lovely that made my spine tingle or moved me to tears, or because this is one of those great tunes that has an enduring quality.

  1. We also heard this on the radio and were entranced. So much so that we opened up Apple Music and were reminded of what a wonderful pianist Rick Wakeman is.

    1. Gaynor, I was just pulling into the supermarket car park when he started playing and had to sit and listen until he had finished.

the line is so bad here at the moment that it just keeps buffering all the time....
I have heard it all the way through this time... in 30 second bursts... it has taken 15mins!!

    1. Tim, that's a shame.
If it's any better chez nous you must pop round for a listen. I'll see how good it is when I'm back.

  4. Love Loved that .. stood - listened .. paid homage yet again .. a beautiful pianistic rendering of a wonderful composition.
Yes .. that scintillating 'spine-tingle' in the presence of moving melodies, harmonies and feelings that can only be unexpressed. Thank you for finding that.
