TWELVE MONTHS IN TWELVE DAYS

For the twelve days of Christmas I am looking back over the twelve months of 2012.

ON THE SECOND DAY OF CHRISTMAS - FEBRUARY

It snowed.  Not as much as the previous year, but enough to make Lulu’s walks look rather different.

Luckily Lulu doesn’t seem to be too interested in sheep.  Chasing squirrels is more her thing.

The first daffodils began to poke up through the ground, a very happy sign that winter was bound to end, sooner or later.

Have you really got 12 pictures of that lovely little ford? I hope so... I'm going to try and get my "Lone Pine" series into a 3 by 4 block.

    1. Tim, I'm not sure about 12, but there are several as it's such a pretty spot.

  2. The snow is pretty, even though it makes things difficult. I find different cultures attitudes toward dogs interesting. There are sheep all over France, but we are rarely warned to keep our dogs tied up. I guess French sheep don't have as much to worry them as English sheep. :)

    1. That's interesting.
Maybe fewer people walk their dogs in France where there are sheep.
Or do French farmers not mind so much if the occasional sheep is worried to death by a dog?
Or do French farmers just shoot without the need to warn people that they might?

Or is it, as I suspect, that in the UK there are people that allow their dogs to chase sheep and therefore the farmers put up nasty and threatening notices?
I have come across several dog walkers who think it's a bit of a joke for their dogs to jump through the electric fence that attempts to keept them out of this very field and chase a pregnant sheep.

In any case, it's unlikely that the farmer is out with his gun at the time the worrying takes place, so the notice is an empty threat I think.
