OLD PHOTOS - WINTRY CHÂTEAU VIEWS

The château at Le Grand-Pressigny is always a feast for the eyes, whatever the weather.

The view from the drawbridge entrance is always inviting, especially in the sunshine of late afternoon.

It's several years now since we were there to do our favourite walk in winter.
By this time of year we are aching to get back.

  1. Even without deep snow, those chilling skies and stark images conjure up the cold. We are yearning too but for our little, old boat on the west coast of Scotland and like you suspect it will be a while yet.

    1. There are so many people yearning for something, to be somewhere they can't go, to be with someone they can't meet, or just to do normal things.

  2. I love these photos, Jean. As for international travel, it's always darkest before the dawn.

    1. I have barely thought of France as international for years, it was just a hop on a train or a ferry. Our house in France is only 600 miles from home. There are parts of Scotland that are further away.

  3. how marvelous. It makes me wonder of all the people who once walked these paths.

    1. Tom, pointless bureaucracy resulting from Brexit.
The new pet travel rules are cumbersome and expensive.
People are still entitled to spend six months of the year in their EU homes but not all at once due to the Schengen rules. Three months there have to be followed by three months away, meaning the days of spending April to September anywhere in the EU are gone unless you get a visa. This is expensive in itself but also involves an interview in London for both of us, the journey being more costly than the visa itself!
      All for what?
It's obviously all possible but we reckon that if we share our time between France and the UK as we have been able to do before it will cost us at least an extra £700 per year and involve a lot of palaver that we could do without.
