This shop premises in the village is now something else, a reading room and research centre. The lovely old signs are gone and its original purpose a dim and distant memory.
Luckily a local photographer captured how it was before the change and had postcards made so that we can all see how it used to be.
Funny, I have a photo of that storefront that I took on April 11, 2006, when Walt, Sue from California, and I spent a few hours in LGP. I bet it's on my blog somewhere.
ReplyDeleteKen, the lady that took this picture and produced the postcards is called Sue, too!
DeleteMy photo of the old storefront is in this 2007 post on my blog.
DeleteKen, you have some very nice pictures in that post. It's interesting how little some places have changed in all that time.
DeleteJean, it isn't something official....
ReplyDeleteit is the reading room, research centre and meeting place of the Friends of the Museum of Grand Pressigny [AMGP]
They have saved the front of the building as it was [but without the lettering, sadly... lack of funds].... it was going to be converted into a private dwelling.
Tim, thanks for the correction and the information.
DeleteThat's neat - a nice momento
